INSTAGRAM VIDEO RISE
Shhhh..listen…..

Do you hear?

Instagram video is flowing…

The Instagram community now has over 500 million monthly active users with over 300 million of those Instagrammers visiting the app every single day. When it comes to content production, people contribute over 95 million photos and videos every day. 150% increase in time spent watching video on Instagram in the past six months. The Instagram community is truly global in scope, with 80%+ of the community outside of the US.

Boomerang videos!

Take a moment and head to the Explore page on Instagram. Notice the row of Instagram Stories at the top of the page? The reason those Stories appear is that Instagram selected them based on the accounts you follow and the posts you like. Instagram may also show you Stories that accounts you follow have liked or were liked by a large number of people. There’s also the fact that Instagram, with the recent release of Instagram Stories, Video Channels on Explore, and Live Video, appears to be investing heavily in video content. Boomerang is great for making short clips that loop back and forward creating an interesting effect. Hyperlapse is Instagram’s time-lapse tool.

Instagram video rise: Grew followers from 1,218 followers to 1,306 followers(100 followers increase) by liking posts around the #hashtags you use in your posts, following relevant people, and commenting when possible. I can continue to do this, but also think your content is a key component or ads. Why not allocate some ad money to this and also repoST other pictures once a day tagging people. You need to tag people to get more awareness right now or put it in your subject line a call to action to tag their photos with you in it. It’s recommended that you post twice a day and some of the highest traffic occurs from 12-2AM (i.e. Millenials who sleep with their phone next to pillow before bed/people out). You also need to continue to use #FF (Follow Friday), #instafollow, #l4l (Like for like), #tagforlikes and #followback to gain followers in your posts. By searching through the WEBSITE, a site that catalogs the most popular Instagram hashtags and users, you can also identify influencers. I would send them free samples of your paint with a handwritten letter asking them to snap a photo tagging us to post to their followers and sharing a promo code for our website.

Marketers can use videos to show your followers things that cannot be conveyed with a photo alone. For example, a clothing store gives followers a behind-the-scenes look at how they make their t-shirts, sharing a more dynamic and complete view than a still image could. Be sure your video offers something special to your followers. Feature something that they care about, and share something that makes your video worth watching. This music studio’s sneak peek video gives followers a preview of their upcoming music. Or how about live footage at a concert or sporting event? Ask followers to take action in some way; this is the best way to encourage engagement!

In ABC Family’s video, Brett Dier asks people to follow him on Twitter and send him tweets that night. Make it relevant to your brand and ask your followers to answer a question, comment or engage in some other way. Include relevant hashtags in the caption. Come up with ideas for future videos and create a timeline for adding them periodically. You can then use your instagram videos and embed them on your website or in blog posts by reading up  here. The customized visual content you create with Instagram can go on to engage your audience on Facebook, Twitter, and you can even share it by email.

  1. It’s crazy to think that all these companies rely on Instagram and it’s been around for years now and they still don’t know how to use it.
